LORENZO MARINI
BODYTYPE
JULY 13 - AUGUST 31
FORTE DEI MARMI
From July 13 to August 31, Oblong Contemporary Gallery presents the exhibition BODYTYPE by Lorenzo Marini (Monselice, 1958) in Forte dei Marmi. The exhibition features about ten works created between 2019 and 2024 using mixed media on canvas, where the artist combines words with the body through a union of photography, digital graphics, and pictorial marks, thus giving life to unique body-letters.
In this work, Lorenzo Marini aims to free letters from their linguistic function, emphasizing their form and uniqueness. Starting from the logic of spaces and balances and the pop character of the alphabet, the artist has restored the autonomy of the graphic sign, thus proposing a reflection on the language of the present and the future of communication.

ABOUT LORENZO MARINI
Lorenzo Marini has leveraged his thirty years of experience in the advertising field to conduct a parallel artistic research that has led him to exhibit in New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Milan, Florence, and Siena. Within his works, the artist reflects on how technological evolution is transforming language, risking shifting it towards a "non-word" in a world where the need for dialogue and communication is fundamental. Through his works, he also highlights the importance of gestures, expressions, and posture, interpreting the signals of body language as a new means of communication. His approach to letters is not gestural but rooted in the form and function of the letters themselves. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts, where he graduated in architecture, he successfully worked in the advertising world for thirty years. Among the artist's main exhibitions are: Artype (Armenia Pavilion, Venice Biennale 2017, Venice, 2017), Out of Words (Gaggenau Hub, Milan, 2020), Dal Silenzio alla Parola (Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Venice, 2020), Digital Art Installation (Piazza Gae Aulenti, Milan, 2020), Alphatype21 (Italian Cultural Institute, Los Angeles, 2021), Di Segni e di Sogni (Santa Maria della Scala, Siena, 2021), Olivettype (Palazzo Uffici Olivetti, Ivrea, 2022), I-stanze (Spazio Thetis, Arsenale, Venice, 2022), World Art Expo (Seoul Coex, South Korea, 2024), Grenada Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition - Venice Biennale (Palazzo Albrizzi Capello, Venice, 2024).
