Vistamarestudio is pleased to present “LE ARTI, 1966-2020”, an exhibition centered around drawing as explored by gallery artists.

The exhibition takes its title from Pino Pascali’s work “Omaggio a Ceroli” (“Homage to Ceroli”), 1966, here on show, that acts as a fil rouge for an exhibition dedicated to drawing, intended as a project and as the origin of an artwork. In Pascali’s work the hammer is an iconographic reference to the objects used by his friend Mario Ceroli for the making of his works, alongside the words “LE ARTI”. The invited artists wonder about the subject by providing numerous unconventional grounds for experimentation, demonstrating the medium’s versality through its many forms: sculpture, wall text, drawing tools, chemical processed film, chalk, projections and prints. The works presented, either new or unpublished, are illustrative of each artist’s creative process, and of the diversity of their artistic practices, that outlines the unlimited possibilities of expanding it.

In 1967 Pascali said: “Realism and abstraction frighten me equally, because they never change… Art consists of finding a system which permits change: like the man who invented the first bowl. That is how civilization is born, from the desire to change. Once it has been done for the very first time, making a bowl becomes an academic exercise. What I do is the opposite of technical research, the opposite of logic and of science.”

The works by Mario Airò, Getulio Alviani, Rosa Barba, Joana Escoval, Anna Franceschini, Linda Fregni Nagler, Tom Friedman, Bethan Huws, Mimmo Jodice, Joseph Kosuth, Armin Linke, Polys Peslikas, Eileen Quinlan, Andrea Romano, Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio, Ettore Spalletti, Haim Steinbach interact with Pascali’s idea, by placing their personal vision on the work as a sign of a rebirth and re-start and thus defining – each in its own way – a current state of “LE ARTI”.

On June 24, from 11am to 9pm, the work Spartifila (crowd control stanchions) by Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio will be installed in the courtyard of the gallery allowing visitors to be part of the installation.
