Montserrat Contemporary Art, in collaborazione con MyMicroGallery, è lieta di annunciare "Art of Presence: shaping the Future through Creativity", a cura di Stefania Carrozzini. La mostra collettiva presenta le opere di otto artisti particolarmente sensibili al tema. Se dovessimo individuare alcuni denominatori comuni tra le opere presentate, sarebbe senza dubbio la loro intenzione di integrare la nozione di tempo della materialità in un linguaggio visivo e semantico.

Che cos’è il presente ?

E soprattutto come si rapporta l’arte al presente? Intanto possiamo dire che il tempo è forse mistero più grande. Lo si può misurare soltanto in maniera indiretta, e il suo susseguirsi in una sequenza di movimenti su corpi, oggetti, paesaggi, lascia la sensazione dello scorrere incessante di questa forza invisibile. E’ significativa la ricerca di molti artisti contemporanei che nel loro lavoro hanno provato non a rappresentare ma a presentare il tempo: come percezione quotidiana, osservandolo, condensando, o allungando il suo flusso. L’arte della performance è stata la disciplina che per eccellenza ha dato valore al momento del qui ed ora. Si pensi ad esempio a Marina Abramovic con l’iconica performance “The artist is present”.

Diversi sono gli spunti e riflessioni che questa mostra propone, a partire dal titolo che lega l’arte al tempo in quanto presente, ma anche come presente che genera futuro, e come la creatività, intesa in tutti i suoi aspetti, modelli e plasmi nel divenire i processi evolutivi dell’essere umano. L'arte della presenza, nel contesto di dare forma al futuro attraverso la creatività, significa essere pienamente coinvolti nel momento attuale e usare le proprie capacità creative per influenzare ciò che ci aspetta. Si tratta di usare la propria immaginazione, innovazione e visione, per creare un futuro migliore attraverso l’arte, o qualsiasi altra strada in cui la creatività può avere un forte impatto. Questo concetto sottolinea l'importanza della consapevolezza di percepirsi come creatori del proprio destino, in cui la nostra vita è la forma più alta di creatività. L’arte della presenza nel time loop analogico digitale è intesa come attività creativa che si pone come il nostro stare al mondo nell’era digitale è un continuo siamo distratti spesso da dispositivi che ci collocano in un tempo altro, camminiamo ma non osserviamo perché abbiamo sempre lo sguardo fisso sullo schermo dello Smartphone, in un perenne dislocamento temporale.

Abitare il qui e ora è dunque un’arte, contempla un esercizio, una disciplina. E nel time loop del nostro presente espanso si pone come tratto dominante, con ciò che identifica il nostro spirito del tempo. Tutto ruota intorno alla presenza dialettica tra effimero e durevole e noi, consapevoli della transitorietà del nostro essere, ci opponiamo con un pensare e un fare che diano forma a contenuti durevoli. Alla base c’è sempre la volontà di andare oltre l’effimero, di ricongiungersi anche per un istante all’eternità e al senza tempo. E’ incredibile come nel mondo dell’intelligenza artificiale resistano i mezzi tradizionali di espressione, tra cui la pittura. E resistono alla smaterializzazione sempre più spinta del reale perché fanno parte di un tipo di esperienza che non può essere sostituita con il virtuale, in quanto ci riporta al corpo, alla materia. E’ un processo che si sviluppa nella consapevolezza dello shock antropologico a cui stiamo assistendo, uno shock non ancora identificato come reale pericolo. Il buco nero dell’online o meglio dell’onlife, divorerà sempre di più l’intera realtà offline, la vita come tale. In una realtà sempre più iperconnessa non ci resta, allora che salvare la presenza, la nostra presenza creativa che ci contraddistingue come umani.

Montserrat Contemporary Art, in collaboration with MyMicroGallery, is delighted to announce, “Art of Presence: shaping the Future through Creativity” curated by Stefania Carrozzini. The group exhibition features work of eight artists particularly sensitive to the topic. If we had to identify some common denominators among the works presented here, it would be undoubtedly be their intention to integrate notion of time of materiality into a visual and semantic language. What is the present ? And above all, how does art relate to the present ? Meanwhile, we can say that time is perhaps the greatest mystery. It can be measured only indirectly, and its succession in a sequence of movements on bodies, objects, landscapes, leaves the feeling of the unceasing flow of this invisible force. Significantly, many contemporary artists have tried in their work not to represent but to present time: as an everyday perception, observing it, condensing it, or stretching its flow. Performance art has been the discipline par excellence that has given value to the moment of the here and now. Consider, for example, Marina Abramovic with her iconic performance "The artist is present."

Several insights and reflections are offered by this exhibition, starting with the title that links art to time as the present, but also as the present that generates the future, and how creativity, understood in all its aspects, models and shapes in becoming the evolutionary processes of human beings. The art of presence, in the context of shaping the future through creativity, is about being fully engaged in the present moment and using one's creative abilities to influence what lies ahead. It is about using one's imagination, innovation and vision, to create a better future through art, or any other avenue where creativity can have a strong impact. This concept emphasizes the importance of the awareness of perceiving oneself as the creator of one's own destiny, in which our life is the highest form of creativity.

The Art of Presence in the analog digital time loop is understood as a creative activity that arises as our being in the world in the digital age is a continuous, we are often distracted by devices that place us in another time, we walk but do not observe because we always have our gaze fixed on the screen of the Smartphone, in a perpetual temporal displacement.

Inhabiting the here and now is thus an art, contemplates an exercise, a discipline. And in the time loop of our expanded present, it stands as a dominant trait, with what identifies our spirit of time. Everything revolves around the dialectical presence between the ephemeral and the lasting, and we, aware of the transience of our being, counter it with thinking and doing that shape lasting content. Underlying this is always the will to go beyond the ephemeral, to reconnect even for an instant with eternity and timelessness. It is amazing how in the world of artificial intelligence traditional means of expression, including painting, endure. And they resist the ever-increasing dematerialization of the real because they are part of a kind of experience that cannot be replaced with the virtual, as it brings us back to the body, to matter. It is a process that develops in awareness of the anthropological shock we are witnessing, a shock not yet identified as a real danger. The black hole of online, or rather onlife, will increasingly devour the entire offline reality, life as such. In an increasingly hyperconnected reality we have no choice, then, but to save presence, our creative presence that distinguishes us as humans.(S.C.)
